Example of the Old Fashioned Recipe Card
Lori Posts 8
|
It was also requested that I post an example of the old fashioned recipe card that was professionally scanned and uploaded by Recipe Runway. We all love our handwritten recipes, stains and all. Online finds, and typed recipes are great in our personal recipe centers, but my recipe center comes to life when I see the handwritten card, or the pull outs with pictures. What a fun way to preserve all our different recipes.
Note: Click on the view images button on the upper left hand side to see recipe card.

Great Example How A Magazine Pull Out Looks
Lori Posts 8

I've had a few requests to post a sample recipe that has been pulled out of a magazine and professionally scanned by Recipe Runway. Many recipe collectors have torn recipes from their favorite magazines but do not want to type them in because they love the photo with the recipe. They wanted to know how the scanned recipe done by Recipe Runway would look once in their own personal recipe centers. I'm delighted to honor this request - so here you go. This is a recipe I tore out of the quick cooking magazine for my collection.
Note: To view the recipe - click the view images button in the upper left hand corner.

WOW!! That's so cool. I'll be GLAD to share one of my mother's index card/broken English recipes with all the RecipeRunway subscribers. I'll set aside some time to send in my package for scanning soon!

The "Non-Chef" in Me!

Dear Lori, at Recipe Runway, I have finally found a community where I can own up to the fact that I can't cook worth beans, but I LOVE recipes! Over the years I always meant to learn, but at 43, I think it's time to admit it - I'm just a restaurant girl. That being said, I TREASURE all of the recipe cards I have collected over the years, and as noted above, while I have rarely actually cooked any of them, I remember every story about the recipe, why someone gave it to me, and just looking at my recipe box (yes, I own one) makes me smile. It's not the words on the page - it's the effort of collecting and connecting over 30+ years that makes it special. I can't imagine losing such history in the event of a fire - now with the scanning package I just signed up for, I will never be at risk of losing the feeling I get when I see the handwriting and history of the recipes. My wishes to you and everyone at Recipe Runway for huge success! edited by runwaydebut1 on 4/6/2009 edited by runwaydebut1 on 4/6/2009

A Fun Recipe from Lori of Recipe Runway

This is a fun recipe to serve between the salad and entree course. The first time I served this was at Christmas a few years back. My Grandfather who is no longer with us - thought this was such a fun and intersting recipe to serve. He was so intrigued he took a picture of it and just chuckled. He grew up during the depression so this was truly enjoyable to him. I always think of him when I see or make this recipe. Enjoy!

Hi BarbaraBell -
Thank you for such a kind message. I truly appreciate it. What a lovely message about your Mother. We are so happy here at Recipe Runway to help you preserve those treasured 3 X 4 index cards. Loving recipes like I do it would be a treat if you felt like sharing one of those rare cards from your Mother here on the forum. How fun to see her broken English way of writing. Once again, thanks for your message. We look forward to having those fabulous cards sent in for scanning. Enjoy! My Best, Lori

CONGRATULATIONS LORI!! Your website is stunningly beautiful, delicious and very inviting. You've built a marvelous community where people can share their treasured memories.
I can't wait to send you my mom's index card recipes in broken English mixed with Polish. During her lifetime, my mom prepared thousands of wonderful meals for our small family of 3. She rarely used recipes but when she went out of her way to jot some down on her 3 X 4 index cards, I KNEW they were very special. And now with her having passed almost 3 years ago, those index cards are my most treasured memories I have of my mother. By scanning and retrieving her hand-written words, her broken English way of writing (3 kups krem chis) I will be reminded that her spirit and love continue to fill my life. Thank YOU Lori, for helping us to hold on to those we love!

How to share a recipe on the forum
Lori Posts 8
|
To share a recipe on the forum, follow these steps:
1. Go to your Recipe Center and click on the desired Recipe.
2. If it is not already green, click on the "Share" button. A "Share link" box should now be visible above the recipe. This box contains the address (URL) of the shareable version of your recipe.
3. Next, copy the address (for Windows, highlight the address, right click, and then click the 'copy' option).
4. Return to the forum and, while editing or adding a topic, click the link icon above the editor window (it appears as a chain-link).
5. Paste the address immediately after the '=' sign by right clicking and selecting the 'paste' option. edited by Lori on 3/28/2009 edited by administrator on 3/28/2009
